Audience: This program is excellent both for the training of maintenance personnel as well as for the multicraft training needs of process and manufacturing facilities. This lesson is designed so that no prior knowledge is required.

What Students Learn: This comprehensive Activ® interactive multimedia training program consists of four lessons that train participants to select, measure, cut and install piping properly. Blueprint reading is also included. This lesson explains the different characteristics of piping systems. The lesson demonstrates how to read blueprints and conduct a field check. Procedures to measure and cut pipe properly for installation are also covered.

After completing the lesson, the learner will be able to:

   •    Identify different types of pipes.
•    Explain how pipes are sized.
•    Explain why different pipes are used in different systems.
•    Read single and double-line blueprints as well as isometric and orthographic projection blueprints.

This lesson is designed for participants familiar with the proper use of hand tools and precision measuring instruments. A knowledge of pipefitting materials and layout is also required.

What Students Learn: This comprehensive Activ® interactive multimedia training program consists of four lessons that train participants to select, measure, cut and install piping properly. Blueprint reading is also included. This lesson shows how to cut and bend tubing, use tubing fittings, cut and thread pipe, and use pipe fittings. The lesson focuses on the sequence of the steps in each procedure as well as the proper selection and use of the necessary tools.

After completing the lesson, the learner will be able to:

    •    Identify the correct size tubing for a job and cut it to the proper size.
•    Use a mandrel bender.
•    Assemble a compression fitting.
•    Use a flaring tool.
•    Inspect a flared fitting for damage.
•    Use a tubing cutter, a wheel roller cutter, and a reamer.
•    Cut threads on a pipe.
•    Assemble a union fitting on threaded pipe.

Pipefitting: Preparing Piping for Installation CD-ROM

Duration: 4 hours (includes 1 test)

Audience: This program is excellent both for the training of maintenance personnel as well as for the multicraft training needs of process and manufacturing facilities. This lesson is designed for participants familiar with the proper use of hand tools and precision measuring instruments. A knowledge of pipefitting materials, layout, tubing, and threaded pipe is also required.

What Students Learn: This comprehensive Activ® interactive multimedia training program consists of four lessons that train participants to select, measure, cut and install piping properly. Blueprint reading is also included. This lesson shows how to set up and operate an automatic cutting torch, how to prepare a pipe end using an end preparation tool, and how to align components for a socket weld joint and butt weld joint. Proper sequences for each procedure as well as the selection and use of the necessary tools are also addressed.

After completing the lesson, the learner will be able to:

   •    Set up an automatic cutting torch, adjust the flame and cut pipe.
•    Identify the components of an end preparation tool.
•    Assemble, install and use an end preparation tool to machine pipe ends.
•    Align butt and socket weld joints.

Audience: This program is excellent both for the training of maintenance personnel as well as for the multicraft training needs of process and manufacturing facilities. This lesson is designed for participants familiar with the proper use of hand tools and precision measuring instruments. A familiarity with pipefitting materials, layout, tubing, threaded pipe and the preparation for piping installation is also required.

What Students Learn: This comprehensive Activ® interactive multimedia training program consists of four lessons that train participants to select, measure, cut and install piping properly. Blueprint reading is also included. This lesson shows and explains sequentially the procedures and materials needed for measuring and cutting block insulation for piping elbows and flanges. The lesson also shows how to install and cover the insulation. The steps in each procedure as well as the selection and use of necessary tools are covered in detail.

After completing the lesson, the learner will be able to:

   •    Calculate the size of required insulation.
•    Properly mark, cut, install, and cement insulation on a piping elbow.
•    Measure, score, install, and cement flange insulation.
•    Measure, cut, and install cloth covering on piping elbows and flanges.
