What is P-SIM 1000?
P-SIM 1000 is computer-based training courseware addressing PLC technology. P-SIM 1000 is a stand-alone, interactive, self-paced course that is designed for students who have had no previous exposure to PLC's. P-SIM 1000 has been developed as an introductory computer-based tutorial for PLC technology. P-SIM 1000 was created to function as a prerequisite course for the more advanced P-SIM 2000. Both programs can be administered independently as individual courses or combined to present a complete and comprehensive curriculum.
How is P-SIM 1000 structured?
The concepts being taught are presented as animated industrial process simulations complete with control functions so the student interacts with the simulation (i.e. the student controls the start/stop of the process). The control programs of the PLC's are animated with power flow and indications of the ladder logic's components "condition" or "state" as the logic is executed.
Tutorial explanations accompany each screen focusing the student's attention on the specific concepts being presented.
P-SIM 1000 is a self-paced tutorial which allows the student to review each lesson as often as necessary in order to absorb and understand the material thoroughly.
How is P-SIM administered?
P-SIM 1000 was developed as a comprehensive, stand-alone, computer based, interactive tutorial. We have created a P-SIM 1000 Study Guide to assist the students with the overall structure and familiarize them with installation and navigating through the course. The study guide contains basic reference material as to the implementation of the P-SIM 1000 course.
P-SIM 1000 incorporates a resident "self-checking" facility that records the test and quiz results of the student's progress. The student or instructor can monitor and evaluate results of each individual module or view a complete summary of the entire course results in a bar graph format. At a glance the course instructor can determine the student's progress and determine if there are any "weak" areas that the student should address before moving ahead.
The results of the student's course activities are stored in specific directories on the floppy disk as the student exits the P-SIM 1000. These same results will be automatically installed into P-SIM 1000 the next time the student accesses the courseware. This ensures that the student can pick up exactly where he left off when he begins his next session on the P-SIM 1000. The instructor has instant access to the student's results and progress by simply viewing the self-checking facility while the student is on-line with the P-SIM 1000, or later via the information stored on the student's floppy disk.
How do P-SIM 1000 and P-SIM 2000 interact?
P-SIM 1000 was developed to provide an introduction to PLC technology and offer a smooth transition path into the more advanced theory and practice of the P-SIM 2000 courseware material. Students and instructors will recognize process simulations and industry standard ladder logic formats common to both courses.
Student Record Disk, Manual and Instructor's Guide:
Both the P-SIM 1000 and P-SIM 2000 programs come complete with 1 student disk and manual for the number of stations ordered. I.E. (1 station) (5 station) etc. See pricing sheet for the number of station available. The disk records the student's progress and stores the ladder logic programs developed by the student for all Simulations and Lab exercises. The disk can also be used by the instructor to administer the programs.
